Intro

I am an Engineer and also a pilot. Always loved to take things apart and and see how they worked. After a while I could actually put them back together again - much to my mothers delight. The first house I lived in (or so I am told as I was 1 when we moved) was located just off the departure end of runway 27 at ILG - New Castle airport near Wilminton, Delaware. When the Delaware National Guard planes took off over the house my dad would curse and I would laugh. Or so I'm told. Guess that is when I developed a love for airplanes.

Anyway, back to the title of this blog. When the weather is at the minimum visibility for ceiling and visibility it is said to be "Down to Minimums". On an ILS approach this is usually 200 feet above the ground on the ceiling and 1/2 mile visibility, usually referred to as 200 and a half. Pretty crappy weather actually. I've had the occassion to do this a few times and it is truly a rush. Always amazing to follow a beam down, have pop under the clouds and have the runway right in front of you 20 stories off the ground.

Anyway, I will occassionally pop in to talk about flying, politics, weather and life in general. Hope you enjoy this.
